Labor Day Weekend

9/1/08

We had a great holiday weekend. We went up to Chad's parents cabin with Chad's sister Tanja, her husband Ryan, and their two kids Jaxon and Lindsey and Jaxon's friend Collin. We had a great time! The kids had a blast running around and acting crazy. I even got up early on Saturday to run in a 10k race in Heber. It was a beautiful run through the valley and up into the mountains (although I quickly learned that mountains have hills--go figure!)

On Saturday afternoon we spent the day at a Sheepdog Competition at Soldier Hollow. Our favorite part was watching the "Splash Dogs" competition. The dogs would run off a ramp and see how far they could get. It was such a hoot to watch each dog-some ran right off and others would run to the very edge and then stop and look at their owner like "you've gotta be kidding me!" The boys had fun watching all of the dogs and even petting a few. Oh, and we also saw a duck herding competition. We could hardly believe that these dogs could actually herd the ducks, but they did!

1st Day of Preschool!

Today was Tate's first official day of preschool. I have to admit that I am a total sap. I got teary eyed this morning as I watched my "baby" hop out of the van with his book bag and blow me a kiss goodbye. I love watching my little guy grow up, but sometimes I think it is just too fast!

Max wasn't quite sure what was going on when Tate left. He kept pointing to Tate's carseat and saying "Tuh, Tuh" (his word for Tate.) He kept looking at us like "uh guys, I think we're missing something here." I think he enjoyed his Mommy and Max time when we got home. He loves to gather several books, pile them on a chair, and climb up and read. Then when he is done reading, we have a grand game of throw-the-book-and-watch-Mommy-pick-it-up!

Preschool!

8/14/08

It is preschool time for Tate! We went to orientation today. His teacher's name is Miss Marci. Tate is soooo... excited! He played outside on what he called "the coolest playground." It really is great. We are excited for him, but are a little shocked that we have such a "big" kid!

To Grandma's (and Grandpa's) House We Go!

8/13/08

Tate and Max had a great time playing with their Great Grandma and Great Grandpa. Grandma didn't know what one of the tools was that Tate was playing with, so Tate decided Grandma needed a lesson. He showed her exactly how to hold the tool, and then coached her through how to use it--so helpful!

Max had a grand ol' time opening and closing the book cupboard. Who knew a cupboard could be so much fun?!

The Sandy Hot Air Balloon Festival

8/9/08

We had a blast this morning! We got up early and went to a nearby park. There were 9 different hot air balloons set up. We were able to sit in the fresh morning air with the sun just peeking over the Wasatch mountains and watch the balloons lift off. Both boys were fascinated with the whole thing.

There was a fire truck in the parking lot and Tate was able to go inside of it. It made his day! He was acting so silly though, and was pretending to be a puppy and lick things. The fireman was really cute and said "oh, we need a good fire dog!" Hurray for nice (and understanding!) firemen!

The Craft Cupboard (and other tales from our house...)

Max discovered our craft cupboard a few days ago. Boy was he proud! He pulled everything out! When I found him he just laughed like he knew he'd made a mess. Good thing he's so darn cute! He's also been learning a lot of new tricks. He is almost walking, and will crawl over and climb onto anything he can. I took him to the pediatrician's today for his 1 year checkup. She said "well I can see he is definitely above average in motor skills..." this as Max is tearing the room apart and climbing on all of the furniture! I guess all of his exercise explains why he is no longer on the chart for weight. He weighs 17 lb. 11 oz. so he's pretty little. Sounds like it's a milkshake and french fry diet for a while!

We took the boys to the Mayan restaurant tonight. It totally made Tate's day. He walked around finding all of the birds and lizards hidden throughout the trees. He was mesmerized as he watched the divers. When we were finished I asked him if he liked it at the Mayan restaurant he said "no, Mommy, it was the Magical Mayan." I can't remember the last time I saw him so wide eyed and excited!

Briana and Timothy

August 1, 2008

My cute little sister was married yesterday to a very sweet guy. They were married in the LDS Timpanogos temple. Chad and I were married there too! It was fun to go back-we listened a lot better during the ceremony this time! It was a wonderful day. Tate has been excited for weeks about going to the Temple and for the big party afterwards. He had a great time! He was a great helper. He brought people water (with carrots in them) and made it a point to fill several cups with water to help all of the thirsty plants. It was too cute watching him! Max had fun jabbering to everyone around, and eating lots of treats.
